Mornings are early at Sossusvlei. The red sand of these dunes that traveled all the way from the Kaliahari deepens in the glow of the sunrise. The shadows cast a darkness on the back side warning of the heat to come. The back side is also where you hide from the fierce winds that will drive sand into every nook and cranny of both your camera gear and yourself. But nothing a nice shower at the Sossusvlei Lodge and a sundowner won’t fix in a hurry.
